Sloth Trot 0.5K
June 29 @ 11:00 am - 11:00 pm
Anyone want to run a marathon in June?!? No? Well, frankly, not us either. We like to experience life in slow motion. But that doesn’t mean our fellow slackers, underachievers, and idlers can’t have some fun too! Kirksville Area Habitat for Humanity would like to invite the community to join us for the first annual Sloth Trot 0.5K! Yes, you read that right….one half of a kilometer. (We think the course is approximately 500 yards, but we couldn’t be bothered to actually measure). It’s a race for the rest of us!
At check-in, “racers” will collect their T-shirt and grab a complimentary cup of your favorite refreshing beverage. Participants are encouraged to carb load and protein pack with a complimentary hot dog just before race time. We’ll gather at the starting line and await the starter’s pistol at 11:00 a.m. sharp (or whenever we actually get around to starting). For 10(ish) exhilarating minutes, participants will saunter and dawdle their way around the Ft. Chariton campground. There’s no need to hurry! Let’s just enjoy a leisurely stroll in the sun (or rain…or snow…we couldn’t be bothered to check the forecast). Since there’s no official timekeeper, we’re all winners and everyone finishes first!
Stick around after the “race” for an afternoon of fun in Yarrow. Play bags, toss horseshoes, or enjoy the view of the Chariton River. Families are welcome as face painting, balloon animals, games, and water balloons. Participants will receive $5 off lunch at Ft. Chariton restaurant. Camping may be reserved by contacting Ft. Chariton and half of all camping fees will be donated to Kirksville Area Habitat for Humanity.
